aluminum siding
Exterior wall panels
Aluminum siding is sheet metal cladding used to cover the exterior walls of houses, popular from the 1940s through 1970s as a low-maintenance alternative to wood.
It became associated with working-class and suburban tract housing, and sometimes carries connotations of cheapness or tackiness: a neighborhood of aluminum siding and chain-link fences.
Largely supplanted by vinyl siding.
