sheetrock

Interior wall material

Sheetrock is a brand name for drywall—panels of gypsum plaster pressed between paper sheets, used to construct interior walls and ceilings.

The trademark has become so generic that sheetrock often refers to any drywall regardless of manufacturer: We need to patch the sheetrock where the pipe burst.

As a verb, to sheetrock is to install it.
