thinset

Ceramic bonding compound

Thinset is a cement-based adhesive used to bond tiles to surfaces like floors, walls, and countertops.

Unlike thicker mortar beds, thinset is applied in a thin layer—typically an eighth to a quarter inch—and mixed with water to form a paste: Spread the thinset with a notched trowel.

Also called thinset mortar or thinset adhesive.
