OSB
Engineered wood panel
OSB stands for oriented strand board, an engineered wood panel made by compressing layers of wood strands with adhesive.
The strands in each layer are oriented in the same direction, with adjacent layers at right angles, giving the material strength.
OSB is cheaper than plywood and widely used in construction for sheathing, subfloors, and roof decking: The contractor nailed OSB to the wall studs.
