caulk

Tube-dispensed sealant material

Caulk is a flexible, waterproof substance used to seal gaps and joints, particularly around windows, bathtubs, and plumbing fixtures.

As a verb, to caulk means to apply this sealant: I need to caulk around the shower before the water damage gets worse.

The term originally referred to sealing the seams of wooden ships with oakum and tar to make them watertight.

Caulk comes in tubes applied with a caulking gun, or in squeeze tubes for smaller jobs.
