cages

Zoos have many

Cages are enclosures of bars or wire mesh used to confine animals or birds: The parrot rattled the bars of its cage.

The word extends to any confining structure—a batting cage, a shark cage, a rib cage.

To cage something is to put it in one, literally or figuratively: She felt caged by the relationship.

In sports, the cage is slang for the goal or net.
