hutch

Bunny's wire home

A hutch is a cage or enclosed pen for small animals, especially rabbits: The children fed the rabbits in their hutch.

The word extends to a piece of furniture—typically a cabinet with open shelves on top of an enclosed base, used for storing and displaying dishes: grandmother's china hutch.

Both senses share the idea of a compartmented enclosure.
