birdcage

Canary's wire prison

A birdcage is an enclosure of wire or bars for keeping pet birds.

The structure—a framework of thin vertical elements—extends to things resembling it: a birdcage veil covers part of the face with netting, and an elevator's open metalwork shaft is sometimes called a birdcage.

She draped a cloth over the birdcage at night.
