brown dwarf

Substellar dim object

A brown dwarf is a celestial object larger than a planet but too small to sustain hydrogen fusion like a true star.

Brown dwarfs occupy the mass range between the largest gas giants and the smallest stars, glowing dimly from the heat of their formation and slow gravitational contraction.

The telescope detected several brown dwarfs in the star cluster.
