massive star
Enormous luminous sphere
A massive star is one with at least eight times the mass of the Sun.
These stars burn through their nuclear fuel rapidly, live relatively short lives (millions rather than billions of years), and end spectacularly—typically as supernovae that may leave behind neutron stars or black holes.
Betelgeuse is a massive star in its final stages.
