bookmarking

Saving for later

Bookmarking is the act of saving a location for easy return—originally by placing a physical marker in a book, now most commonly by saving a webpage or digital content for later access.

In browsers, bookmarking a site adds it to a personal list so you don't have to remember or retype the URL.

I've been bookmarking recipes all week.

The term extends to any system that lets users flag content for future reference, from social media posts to streaming queues.
