endnote
Citation placed last
An endnote is a note placed at the end of a chapter or book, providing citations, references, or supplementary information.
Unlike footnotes at the bottom of pages, endnotes collect all notes in one place, requiring readers to flip back and forth: The endnotes run to forty pages.
Scholars debate whether footnotes or endnotes better serve readers. (Capitalized Endnote is reference management software.)
