blue ice

Dense glacial layer

Blue ice is ice that appears blue rather than white, typically old glacial ice compressed enough that air bubbles have escaped, allowing it to absorb red light and reflect blue.

The term also refers to frozen human waste jettisoned from aircraft lavatories, which occasionally falls to earth: A chunk of blue ice crashed through their roof.
