play ball
Work with others
Play ball is the umpire's call that starts a baseball game, and by extension, any signal to begin.
More often it means to cooperate or go along with someone's plans: The prosecutor offered a deal if he'd play ball.
Refusing to play ball means refusing to participate on offered terms.
