anterior cruciate ligament
Crucial knee connector
The anterior cruciate ligament, usually called the ACL, is a band of tissue in the knee that connects the thighbone to the shinbone and prevents the shin from sliding forward.
ACL tears are among the most common sports injuries, often requiring surgical reconstruction: She tore her ACL playing soccer and missed the entire season.
