Yukon Territory
Whitehorse's administrative region
Yukon Territory is the formal name for Yukon, one of Canada's three northern territories, bordered by Alaska to the west.
The territory designation distinguishes it from provincial status—territories have less autonomy and are governed more directly by the federal government.
In contemporary usage, the region is typically called simply Yukon: We drove through Yukon on our way to Alaska.
