Beringia

Sunken Arctic passage

Beringia is the landmass that once connected Asia and North America across what is now the Bering Strait.

During ice ages, lower sea levels exposed this land bridge, allowing humans and animals to migrate between continents.

The term appears in discussions of prehistoric human migration to the Americas: The first Americans crossed Beringia from Siberia.
