Victorian architecture
Ornate nineteenth-century style
Victorian architecture refers to the building styles prevalent during Queen Victoria's reign over Britain (1837–1901), characterized by ornate decoration, asymmetrical facades, steep rooflines, and eclectic borrowing from Gothic, Italianate, and other historical styles.
These buildings often feature decorative trim, bay windows, wraparound porches, and colorful painted exteriors.
The term applies broadly to residential, commercial, and public structures of the era found throughout Britain, its former colonies, and the United States.
The neighborhood is known for its beautifully restored Victorian architecture.
