ADP
Cellular energy currency
ADP stands for adenosine diphosphate, a molecule central to cellular energy transfer.
When ATP (adenosine triphosphate) releases energy, it loses a phosphate group and becomes ADP.
The cell then recycles ADP back to ATP through respiration or photosynthesis.
In business contexts, ADP is a major payroll and human resources company: My paycheck comes through ADP.
