emissivity

Surface radiation coefficient

Emissivity is a measure of how effectively a surface radiates thermal energy compared to an ideal blackbody.

A perfect emitter has an emissivity of 1; a perfect reflector has an emissivity of 0.

The property matters in thermal imaging, building insulation, and climate science: Low-emissivity windows reduce heat loss in winter.
