UVC

Shortest ultraviolet band

UVC is the shortest-wavelength band of ultraviolet radiation, ranging from 100 to 280 nanometers.

Unlike UVA and UVB, UVC from sunlight is absorbed by Earth's atmosphere and doesn't reach the surface.

Artificial UVC light is used for germicidal purposes—sterilizing surfaces, air, and water by destroying microorganisms: UVC lamps in hospital ventilation systems.
