infrared radiation

Invisible thermal light

Infrared radiation is electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths longer than visible light but shorter than microwaves.

It's invisible to human eyes but detectable as heat.

Infrared has wide applications: thermal imaging cameras reveal heat signatures, remote controls send infrared signals to televisions, and night-vision devices detect body heat.

The infrared satellite image showed the storm's heat distribution.
