Stratford

Avon-adjacent English town

Stratford is a place name common in England and North America, most famously Stratford-upon-Avon, Shakespeare's birthplace and a tourist destination for that reason.

Other Stratfords include towns in Connecticut, Ontario, and London (site of the 2012 Olympic Park).

The name derives from an old word for a ford at a paved road.
