Bank
Where money lives
Bank has two distinct origins that have settled on the same spelling.
One bank is a financial institution where people deposit money, take out loans, and conduct other monetary transactions; by extension, any repository or reserve can be called a bank: blood bank, food bank, data bank.
To bank is to deposit money or to rely on something: Don't bank on good weather.
The other bank is a raised edge or slope, like a riverbank or a bank of clouds, or a row of similar objects: a bank of elevators.
Aircraft bank when they tilt during a turn.
