coffers

Where funds accumulate

Coffers are chests or strongboxes for storing valuables, especially money.

The word almost always appears in the plural, referring to financial reserves or treasury funds: The scandal drained the party's coffers, The tax cut would add billions to corporate coffers.

A coffer is also a recessed panel in a ceiling or dome, used decoratively in architecture.
