Niger

Landlocked Saharan nation

Niger is a landlocked country in West Africa, named after the Niger River that flows through it.

The country is largely covered by the Sahara Desert and is one of the world's poorest nations.

Also, Niger is a state in Nigeria.

The Niger River, Africa's third-longest, flows through West Africa from Guinea to the Gulf of Guinea. (Lowercase niger appears in scientific Latin names, meaning "black.")
