Prince email cons
Nigerian scams are fraudulent schemes in which perpetrators—often claiming to be Nigerian royalty, officials, or businesspeople—contact victims with promises of vast sums in exchange for help moving money out of the country.
The victim is asked to pay fees or provide bank details, receiving nothing in return.
Also called 419 scams after the relevant section of Nigeria's criminal code.
Though Nigeria became synonymous with such fraud, similar schemes operate worldwide: I almost fell for a Nigerian scam before I noticed the sender's email address.
