Moomin
White Finnish hippo-creature
Moomin refers to a family of white, hippopotamus-like creatures from Finnish author Tove Jansson's children's books and comics, beginning in 1945.
The Moomins live in Moominvalley and have a gentle, philosophical quality that appeals to adults as well as children.
The franchise expanded into animation and merchandise, particularly popular in Scandinavia, Japan, and the UK: Have you seen the new Moomin mugs?
