moi

Playfully coy self-indication

Moi is a playful or ironic way of saying "me," borrowed from French.

It's typically used to feign innocence, express mock surprise, or add theatrical flair: Moi, jealous? Never!

The word often appears in the phrase moi? as a one-word response suggesting "who, me?" with exaggerated disbelief.

It was popularized in English by Miss Piggy of the Muppets, whose diva persona made heavy use of French affectations.
