London Underground

British capital's subway

The London Underground is the rapid transit system serving London, commonly called the Tube after its cylindrical tunnels.

Opened in 1863, it was the world's first underground railway.

The system's colored lines and distinctive roundel logo are iconic: Take the Tube to Piccadilly.

The phrase mind the gap warns passengers of the space between train and platform.
