ghost stations

Sealed subway platforms

Ghost stations are transit stops that trains pass through without stopping—usually stations closed to the public but still visible from moving cars.

The term originated with Berlin's divided subway system, where Western trains passed through sealed Eastern stations.

More broadly, ghost station can describe any abandoned or disused station that remains structurally intact: The old platform is now a ghost station, its tiles still visible through grimy windows.
