trolleys

Shopping floor vehicles

Trolleys is the plural of trolley—a wheeled cart or carriage.

In American English, a trolley typically means a streetcar running on tracks and powered by overhead electric wires: The city's trolleys were replaced by buses in the 1950s.

In British English, trolley more often refers to a shopping cart or serving cart: She pushed the trolley down the supermarket aisle.

A trolley can also be the grooved wheel that makes contact with an overhead wire.
