metro line
Underground transit route
A metro line is a single route within an urban subway or underground rail system, typically identified by a number, letter, or color: Take the blue metro line to the city center.
Major cities have multiple metro lines that intersect at transfer stations, forming a network.
The term is more common in European and international contexts than in American English, where "subway line" predominates.
