Lake Titicaca

High Andean water

Lake Titicaca is a large freshwater lake in the Andes mountains, straddling the border between Peru and Bolivia.

It sits at about 12,500 feet elevation, making it the highest navigable lake in the world.

The lake holds cultural significance for indigenous Andean peoples and remains a major tourist destination: We took a boat to the floating islands on Lake Titicaca.
