Kronos

Child-devouring deity

Kronos is the Greek Titan who ruled before the Olympian gods.

He overthrew his father Uranus and devoured his own children to prevent them from deposing him—until Zeus escaped and fulfilled the prophecy.

The name appears in modern contexts as a symbol of time consuming all things, though this conflates Kronos with Chronos, the personification of time.

Also spelled Cronus.
