personification

Giving objects feelings

Personification is the representation of an abstract idea or thing as a human figure: Justice blindfolded with scales, Death as a hooded skeleton with a scythe.

In rhetoric, personification gives human qualities to nonhuman things: The wind whispered through the trees, Fear gripped her heart.

The word also means a perfect embodiment: She was the personification of grace.
