Iberians

Spanish and Portuguese

Iberians refers to the peoples of the Iberian Peninsula—modern Spain and Portugal.

In ancient history, Iberians were the pre-Roman inhabitants of the region, distinct from the Celts who later merged with them.

Today the term encompasses Spanish, Portuguese, Catalan, Basque, and Galician peoples collectively: Iberians have shaped Latin American culture through colonization.
