Albertosaurus

Cretaceous North American predator

Albertosaurus is a genus of large carnivorous dinosaur that lived in North America during the Late Cretaceous period, about 70 million years ago.

A relative of Tyrannosaurus rex, it was smaller but similarly built—bipedal, with tiny forelimbs and powerful jaws lined with serrated teeth.

Named for Alberta, Canada, where its fossils were first discovered.
