Dracula

Cape-wearing bloodsucker

Dracula is the vampire count in Bram Stoker's 1897 novel, an undead Transylvanian nobleman who drinks human blood.

The character became the template for vampires in popular culture—aristocratic, seductive, vulnerable to sunlight and crucifixes.

Dracula now serves as shorthand for any vampire or vampire-like figure: He looked like Dracula in that cape.

The name derives from a 15th-century Romanian ruler, Vlad the Impaler.
