Gothic platformer franchise
Castlevania is a video game franchise by Konami, first released in 1986, in which players battle through Dracula's castle fighting vampires and supernatural creatures.
The series is known for gothic horror atmosphere, challenging gameplay, and iconic music.
Later entries pioneered the "Metroidvania" genre—side-scrolling games with interconnected maps and ability-based progression: I spent the whole weekend replaying Castlevania.
