Woodstock

Iconic sixties concert

Woodstock refers most famously to the 1969 music festival in upstate New York that became a defining moment of 1960s counterculture—three days of peace, music, and mud that drew hundreds of thousands.

The name now evokes any large, chaotic outdoor gathering with countercultural spirit: It was like Woodstock out there.

Woodstock is also several actual towns, including the one in New York near the festival site and another in Vermont.
