bobcat

Short-tailed wildcat

A bobcat is a wild cat native to North America, named for its short, stubby tail.

About twice the size of a house cat, bobcats have tufted ears and spotted coats.

They're solitary, nocturnal hunters found from southern Canada through Mexico: We spotted a bobcat crossing the trail at dusk.
