CMOS

Chip fabrication method

CMOS (pronounced SEE-moss) stands for complementary metal-oxide semiconductor, a technology used in integrated circuits.

In everyday use, CMOS usually refers to the small battery-powered chip in a computer that stores basic system settings like the date, time, and boot order: I had to reset the CMOS when my computer wouldn't start.

In photography, a CMOS sensor is the light-sensitive chip in digital cameras that captures images.
