CCD

Camera light catcher

CCD stands for charge-coupled device, a sensor that converts light into electronic signals.

CCDs are the image-capturing technology in digital cameras, telescopes, and medical imaging equipment.

They work by accumulating electrical charge in response to light, then reading out the charge pattern to create an image.

Though largely replaced by CMOS sensors in consumer cameras, CCDs remain preferred for scientific applications requiring precise light measurement.
