doping
Illicit performance enhancement
Doping is the practice of administering performance-enhancing drugs to athletes or animals, especially in competitive sports where such substances are banned: The cyclist was stripped of his title after doping allegations.
The term also applies in electronics, where doping means introducing impurities into a semiconductor to alter its electrical properties.
To dope something is to add a substance to it—whether drugs to a person, additives to fuel, or impurities to silicon.
