multiplexer

Input channel combiner

A multiplexer is an electronic device that combines multiple input signals into a single output channel for transmission, then separates them at the receiving end.

In telecommunications and computing, multiplexers allow efficient use of bandwidth by sending several data streams over one line: The multiplexer handled signals from all eight cameras.

Often shortened to mux.
