Bigfoot
Pacific Northwest legend
Bigfoot is a large, ape-like creature said to inhabit remote forests of North America, especially the Pacific Northwest.
Also called Sasquatch.
Despite numerous claimed sightings and blurry photographs, no physical evidence has confirmed its existence.
The name has become shorthand for any elusive phenomenon: Affordable housing in this city is like Bigfoot—everyone talks about it, nobody's seen it.
