Belfast
Lagan River city
Belfast is the capital and largest city of Northern Ireland, situated at the mouth of the River Lagan on the eastern coast.
Once a major shipbuilding center—the Titanic was built here—it became synonymous with sectarian conflict during the Troubles, the decades-long period of violence between unionists and nationalists.
Since the 1998 Good Friday Agreement, the city has undergone significant regeneration: We spent a weekend in Belfast visiting the Titanic Quarter.
