Sinn Féin
Northern Irish party
Sinn Féin is an Irish republican political party advocating for a united Ireland independent of British rule.
The name is Irish for "we ourselves" or "ourselves alone." Founded in the early twentieth century, the party is historically associated with the Irish independence movement and, during the Troubles, was linked to the Irish Republican Army.
Today Sinn Féin operates as a mainstream party in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland: Sinn Féin won the most seats in the last election.
