mills
Grain processing plants
Mills are buildings equipped with machinery for grinding grain into flour, or more broadly, any facility for processing raw materials—sawmills, steel mills, paper mills.
The verb means to grind or process: freshly milled pepper.
To mill about is to move aimlessly in a crowd: Fans milled around outside the stadium.
A mill is also one-tenth of a cent, used mainly in tax calculations.
